Polair Publishing's Origins
'Polair' means 'of the Pole Star' and is somewhere between the French (Polaire) and the English (Polar-hence the polar bear). The Pole Star is the guiding star of the mariners. Spiritually, it is also the six-pointed star, the symbol of the creation of life, of balance, and of perfection.
Polair is the brainchild of Colum Hayward, for many years Senior Editor with the White Eagle Publishing Trust, and Richard Smith, formerly with Unilever. Like Polair, the White Eagle work owes some of its origin to the FraternitÈ des Polaires who were active in the 1920s and early 30s. Polair Publishing shares a similar ideal. In publishing terms, it seeks to offer more than just a Mind/Body/Spirit list and to broaden the concept behind that phrase so that it covers any subject that relates to the way we develop the brotherhood of life upon the planet.
Polair Publishing's first book was published on 15 September 2003.
Manuscript submissions
Polair receives many manuscripts from authors and is limited in its resources to review them all for publication. If you have are writing, or have written, a book of any sort, please do not submit it without first contacting us about its suitability, ideally by email. We are not able to publish fiction or children's titles at all, and non-fiction ideas need to come to us in the form of a prospectus or table of contents, and a short specimen of the writing.
